# | Comments and Suggestions to improve access to the equipments: | Answers |
---|---|---|
| Harmonisation of online TPT More than 0 points if some answers are good but not all in multiple choice questions | Your suggestion will be forwarded to the makers of TPT quizzes |
| Before I started I found the information on what to do before I can get access a bit conflicting and confusing - for example I did many courses at DTU Learn which later turned out not to be required (but I learned something from them so it's not an issue) | This we normally clarify during the required Cleanroom Launch meeting. |
| I think that LabAdviser should be updated more often with new information, as in many cases I found broken links and/or little information about some processes. It would also be nice to streamline a bit the courses and TPTs to gain access at Nanolab. For example, I think the safety course has a lot of videos with overlapping information; I think there should be a single source of videos (maybe separated by topic) and documentation, in order not to create confusion. | Please let us know when you find such issues. On every page there shold be an "Feedback to this page: click here" |
| I'd suggest specific training for student and research levels. As a postdoc, it took me 2 months to be able to start using the needed equipment. | We do not have the resources to make online materials for users at different levels. The TPT courses were made to have at least a common basic knowledge before using the machines. Both the online courses and the hands-on trainings should however, be easier to pass for a person with good background knowledge. |
| A more specific suggestion, all the schedules could be arranged from the beginning of the training process. In the 2-month period, 5 weeks were spent waiting for the staff to reply or waiting for an appointment. | We are sorry for your long waiting periods. In practice it is very difficult to plan everything in advance because of the possibility of equipment breakdown and other delays. We have the Cleanroom launch meetings to prepare and initiate plans. |
| I think it is alright as it is - However, maybe make it more clear before new people are entering that a lot of perfume is not allowed. Recent team of students seemed to not know or else the rule was not enforced by Nanolab staff | We inform during the Introductory course that make-up is not allowed. We do not interfere with how people smells as it does not directly affect the cleanroom functionality. You are always welcome to correct persons in the cleanroom if you think it affects your work. |
| Dissatisfaction is based on previous information about FFU and light changes. Recently, there have been no issues. | We know that it is inconvenient with these close-downs due to upgrades. They are however nessesary to save cost and keep the facility running. |
| There are a lot of details in the safety course (working with chemicals, wastes, and ...), it would be helpful and more informative if you separate them into two courses and have hands-on training for each separately with more contribution from students. | It is a balance between giving the needed information and not taking too much of peoples time. With the online courses in Learn you always have the possibility to go back and review the topics |
| One of the annoying things in the cleanroom is a huge amount of waste of different materials and chemicals (wafers, solvents, chemicals, DIW, napkins, ...), which costs a lot of money and moreover is not environment friendly. I do appreciate it if you add a section to the safety course and teach users how to manage to consume materials and chemicals in a proper manner to have as minimum as possible waste. | We always encourage people to save on resources. It is difficult to judge wether another users consumption of e.g. chemicals is needed for the process to work or if some is a waste. |
| Det skal ikke være nemt at få adgang.. Det skal være lidt besværligt, men så bliver man til gengæld også i mange år, når man først har fået adgang :) | So said from a long time user ;-) |
| I think the safety course and beginning lessons should be more restrict. These months, there were out-of-use equipment such as Plasma Asher due to metal wafers put inside. Ristricter courses can definitely help that! | Again we try to find a balance. You can not totally avoid mistakes, misunderstandings or ignorance. |
| A clearer/more transparent guide on going through safety/introduction course and TPTs. I feel like there is a lot of 'closed doors' so you have to navigate a bit in the darkness on how to get access to tools. It is a bit of a problem for students who are not doing at least a master thesis, to get to do a meaningful project inside the cleanroom. | We try to cover this with our Cleanroom Launch meetings with new users. We know that it is tough to make something less than a master inside the cleanroom due to the steep learning curve. We hope the supervisors are aware of this." |
| To have a lot more advertising on pertinent MSc courses and to have professors transfer the need for students in micro & nanofabrication. | We will pass this on to our colleagues in research and teaching courses |
| I would suggest to ration accordingly the timeslots for machines such as the ICP Metal Etch. These are heavily booked tools that are booked in advance for lots of hours, which may be necessary in some cases, but makes it practically impossible to start working on the machine consistently. | We have booking rules for some of the machines to take care of this. If you see a problem on a specific machine please let us know. In such a case we may change the booking rules. |
| Satisfied in all -:) | Thank you |
| It would be of great help if there were space to dry clothes for people who bike to Nanolab and shower. Sometimes, people hang their stuff up over the radiators by the downstairs clothes rack, and it smells awful. | We cannot offer to dry peoples clothes. They have to use the facilities in their own instituet or company. We will however, look into getting more/better space for outdoor clothes. |
| The way that the safety course is setup is quite Nice. | Thank you |
| I think a nice idea could be to do a second training (as a follow-up) on some specific equipment only to be sure that the new users are confident about what they are learning :) | You are always welcome to ask for another training if you are unsure about operating some equipment. Our instructorss are told only to give authorization when they believe the user can operate the equipment safely |
| I don't really have much to say about the access process. It was pretty streamlined when I got my access this summer, there wasn't really a point where I didn't know what to do next. | Thank you |
| I really like working in the cleanroom. For the most part people are helpful if you have question or need help. It has been a little unfortunate that some of the equipment, that I need for my project has been unavailable for a longer period of time. TEOS and poly-Si etch wetbench. Other than that I don't really have any complaints. | Thank you. Equipment out of use is very unfortunate. We try to repair it as quickly as possible but often run in to problems with delivery time for spare parts or long waiting time s for service engineers. |
| Don't need to make it any more easy. | Thank you |
| I have noticed an improvement in communication level from Nanolab regarding changes and downtimes of facilities. This has been appreciated, please continue. | thank you - we will try to do so |
| I've been thinking some time about this, and it seems that the time consuming process is to get all the trainings for the tools needed. It seems that this is just the nature of it as everybody needs a good and thorough training, but maybe its possible to bunch up some of the more used initial tool trainings each month? I don't really know if its possible or not or even relevant but that's the only thing i could come up with. | Thank you for your suggestion. We think it is very difficult to bunch up trainings because the requirements differ so much from project to project. The space is also restricted and makes it impractical to gather many persons around a tool. |
| I think it is already very good. | |
| Very super cleanroom, regarding staff help, machines, environment, etc. | Thank you |
| Nothing generic. Maybe the quizzes for the TPT courses could be a little more extensive and be discussed in a discussion session, as is done in the dry etch TPT. | Thank you for the suggestion. Your suggestion will be forwarded to the makers of TPT courses |
| I think everything is very good as it is | thank you |
| Introduction and training video course will help users to get familiar with the equipment more quickly. | We try to make new and update vidoes to the best of our ability. It does however take a long time to produce these. I just counted the number of DTU Nanolab videos on Youtube. I found 75 videos. |
| Add the option to be notified automatically when others delete or change a booking for a machine you are interested in using. | This should be working. Please check your mail preferences in LabManager. Note there is one block for Microscopy (Bld. 314/307) and one for Cleanroom (Bld. 346/347). Put a tickmark in the Booking column. |
| Currently "help" is organized by which persons are in charge of which machine. It might be nice to have another look-up table of people who are experienced with specific materials. | Interesting suggestion but difficult to implement with the amount of different materials used in the cleanroom. We are internally trying to pick trainers with experience on similar materials/processes that a user requires. However we often see that we are asked to provide training on a particular machine without any information of sample material. |
| In my opinion, there is very little to improve in that regard. | |
| Cleanroom course should have more smaller groups. Hands on experience should be given to everyone during the course. Students should get some access during the course. Lab training should be prioritized more from the staff side. Quizzes on DTU learn have some mistakes that needs to be rectified. | We have decided to work with a group of up to 3 persons to be able to have trainings once a week and still have time for other lab technician work. We encourage you to ask for more training if you think you need this. We will review the quizzes for any mistakes. You are always welcome to notify us directly in such cases. |
| in chemical bench area hæng up paper notes/guides to help to remember the import things | how to clean samples |
| Can maybe offer more 3-week courses or summer courses for students that are interested in cleanroom work. | |
| In times with a lot of users wanting acces, increase the number of access courses in a week from 1 to 2. | We already do that if the need is there |
| Online lecture for TPT | We have online courses for all TPT's. On some of the TPTs it is however preferred to give the course as a lecture with the possibility to ask questions due to the nature of the topic |
| Give a starter explanation on where to find things like wafer boxes, name tags, glasses, and other practicalities, How to buy wafers, | Should be given in the introductory course |
| Overall I think the cleanroom can be a bit messy at times. This has to do with users leaving tweezers, tissues, manuals, carrier boxes and even samples lying around. This makes it sometimes complicated to have space to work and handle samples. Further I think there are a lot of unused samples/devices taking up shelf space. | We encourage everyone to clean up after themselves. We are looking into improving the shelf storage administration to get rid of old/unused samples. |
| The current way looks promising | Thank you! |
| The safety training is very important. I don't think it is necessary to make it easier than it is now. | Thank you! |
| I really appreciate the effort that the nanolab has put in to make it run smoothly. It is an enormous job done in a graceful style. I love it. | Thank you! |
| Keep on making and updating those great intro videos that you already do! | Thank you! |
