Maybe you could create a simple software manual to check all the parameters needed before image acquisition, like image resolution, the legend, how to remove the cross on the middle of the image... Because users change all this and usually we don't realize that we need to change them back or we don't know how. |
Acquisition parameters always need to be adapted depending on the need. Each user should set the parameters beginning of the session. We are going to work on a short userguide to remind users of the settings.

If there could be a quick instruction on the desk would be better, sometimes I tend to forget how to calibrate for example astigmatism etc, but don't know where to find guidance. |
We will make a short userguide.

Train a little more. It is very hard to work well at the first measurement. |
Every sample is different and we don't have the capacities for extensive one-to-one training on each individual sample. But each user is welcome to come and ask for help on specific questions during the session.

Provide more regular training sessions that are advertised so users know when and how fast they can expect to get trained |
We are working on a partial online format to make training more flexible.

It would be nice if there is someone (for example a technician or a student) in the lab during working hours. For example, some students book the microscope at 8am but they show up 30 minutes later. New microscope users can have issues even after training and might need quick help. |
Contact information is found in LabManager for each microscope. We also created TEAMS user groups to interact with other users and staff. We always try to help as soon as time and other tasks allow.

Place an ad on the main page of dtu nanolab information about training courses with equipment operation. |

detailed manual and video for operating of equipment. |
We are working on short video on theory and operation for training and electron microscopy courses

Actually not much, the site "Use of our facilities – building 314/307" summarizes the process nicely. Landing on Nanolabs frontpage though, it is not very obvious that Nanolab is offering access to electron microscopes. In fact, the word electron microscopy hardly appears, so it requires "knowing what you're looking for" and that the term "Characterisation" at Nanolab is used mainly for electron micrsocopy and accompanying techniques. |

The training for new microscopy users has been quite well organized. Keep it up! |
Thank you!

I think it is easy to get access. |
This is good to hear!

The training and course for new users are totally ok. Maybe a online group for all users can be built for QA and mutual study. |
We have created TEAMS user groups to interact with other users and staff.

I think not all my colleagues are aware of the microscope facilities close by and how straightforward and convenient they are to use, despite the physical proximity. Maybe increasing the visibility (simple poster or similar) could help. |
We are setting up poster and research news in our corridor in 307.

The main issue that I've had so far was to translate what I learnt on "standard samples" during the training to my own samples, as they seem more challenging to work with. Could be maybe nice to have an overview of what people have worked with, so to ask for help if necessary (sometimes methods in publication are not detailed enough). |
Users are always welcome to ask for help. We are currently installing poster boards in 314 and 307 with research news to give an overview of Nanolab research group interest and experience

Maybe the homepage etc. could be more streamlined, or intuitive. But for the microscopy section of Nanolab it might actually be quite good already. - Maybe rules should be more clear. And whom they could talk to. Sometimes it feels like that new users are not sure whom to address for specific questions on troubles, from admin, access, to uses or technology. |

I think it is fairly straightforward, and I really enjoy the manuals for all equipment. I had the SEM phd course which was extremely helpful. |
Thank You!

More advanced EDS detector could be considered for T20 or ATEM in the future. |
There will be a significant upgrade in the very near future.

I think the current procedure is excellent, a good combination of theory and practical learning. |
Thank you!

Maybe a follow-up session after the training just to help new users to feel more comfortable when using the tools by themselves. |
Thank you, we will look into that. You are always welcome to ask any Nanolab staff for help.

More schematic list/slides stating what is available and the potentials of each equipment. |
We provide additional information on the equipment in LABADVISER. These information are updated/extended continously.
