Why Competence Registrations?

DTU Nanolab have facilities which provides state of the art equipment to users. Equipment in this league is delicate and specialized and you need to be trained in order to use it to 1) know how the equipment should be operated and 2) to know the particular setup and rules that apply here. So, even if you are an experienced user from another facility you still need to meet with our staff and have training.

We registrate training sessions - and separately - authorizations to use equipment. The latter is what determines if you can use a piece of equipment.

The training always take your experience into account, and will of course be shorter if you already have experience. We have experts who have extensive knowledge about the equipment who can help and train users.

Where can I see my competences

You need to be a user of DTU Nanolab and access LabManager - My Account - Competences

  1. Equipment you are authorized to use are have a green in the Authorized column.
  2. For access to the cleanroom of DTU Nanolab it is important that you have passed the Safety Course and subsequent LabIntro Course in order to work on your own.
  3. Authorization is valid in 9 month from the day you were authorized, and the authorization is renewed when you use the equipment. A lot of the equipment is complex and if you have not used it for 9 months, we redraw the authorization. Should this happen, contact training@nanolab.dtu.dk (for bld. 346/347) or jenk@dtu.dk for bld. 307/314.
  4. If the authorization will be withdrawn within 30 days a yellow sticker will appear telling the number of remaining days. If you hover the Authorized column you will see the number of days - also for equipment which is not about to expire.
  5. Click the resume button to see the history. This will tell you when you were trained, authorized and maybe de-authorized.
  6. The comment field will tell about special circumstances about the authorizations. The comment field will show if your authorization is limited in some way - or if you have been allowed to use the equipment in a special way.
